Criminal Defense Attorney

Job Overview: A law firm in San Joaquin, CA, is seeking a dedicated and experienced Criminal Defense Attorney to join their team. The successful candidate will counsel clients, manage court appearances, and strategize for the best possible outcomes in complex criminal cases.

Key Responsibilities:

• Advise clients on their legal rights and draw up legal documents related to their cases
• Attend pretrial hearings on behalf of clients and provide post-hearing strategies
• Manage court appearances, trials, drafting motions, interviewing witnesses, and conducting legal research
• Analyze probable outcomes of cases using knowledge of legal precedents
• Manage a diverse workload of criminal cases
• Provide detailed legal analysis for clients to determine potential case benefits
• Gather additional evidence to support clients' cases or counter prosecution charges
• Prepare clients for depositions and determine essential case strategy goals
• Gather information from witnesses and experts to support clients' positions

Requirements:

• Minimum of 2 years of Criminal Defense experience
• Experience handling complex criminal cases at the federal, state, and local levels
• A collaborative team player willing to strategize and work with fellow associates
• Bilingual in English and Spanish (preferred)
• Exceptional interpersonal skills

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
• Active membership in the California State Bar

Certifications:

• Certified Criminal Law Specialist (preferred but not required)
