A law firm in Santa Ana is seeking an Insurance Coverage Litigation Attorney to support the Product, Tort, and Insurance Litigation Practice Group. The ideal candidate will have 5-7 years of litigation experience in defending insurance coverage and/or extracontractual matters. Strong candidates will have experience in writing coverage opinions, investigating insurance claims, handling written discovery and depositions, drafting pleadings and substantive motions, attending mediations and court appearances, and assisting at trial. Additionally, candidates must have a good academic record and excellent research and writing skills.

 

Duties:

  • Write coverage opinions and provide legal advice regarding insurance coverage matters.
  • Investigate insurance claims and gather relevant evidence.
  • Handle written discovery, including interrogatories, requests for production, and requests for admissions.
  • Prepare and defend depositions of fact and expert witnesses.
  • Draft pleadings, motions, and other legal documents.
  • Represent clients in mediations, settlement conferences, and court appearances.
  • Assist in trial preparation and participate in trial proceedings.
  • Conduct legal research and provide legal analysis and advice to clients.

 

Requirements:

  • 5-7 years of litigation experience, preferably in defending insurance coverage and/or extracontractual matters.
  • Good academic record from an accredited law school.
  • Excellent research and writing skills.
  • Experience in writing coverage opinions, investigating insurance claims, handling written discovery and depositions, drafting pleadings and substantive motions, attending mediations and court appearances, and assisting at trial.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work well independently and in a team environment.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.

 

Education and Certifications:

Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

 

Skills:

  • Strong litigation skills, including writing coverage opinions, drafting pleadings, and conducting trial proceedings.
  • Proficiency in legal research and writing.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Experience in defending insurance coverage and/or extracontractual matters is advantageous.
