A prominent law firm in Bakersfield, California, is seeking a highly experienced and dedicated Senior Immigration Attorney to join its team. Duties

  • Provide legal counsel and explain immigration processes and strategy options to clients

  • Represent detained and non-detained individuals in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and Board of Immigration Appeals

  • Manage and maintain an organized immigration caseload

  • Conduct intake interviews with detained individuals at detention facilities

  • Prepare, file, and review a variety of immigration applications, including family-based petitions and removal defense filings

  • Draft and submit legal briefs and other supporting documentation for immigration cases

  • Collaborate with law enforcement agencies, prosecutorial offices, and community organizations regarding immigration law developments

  • Conduct consultations with potential clients to determine eligibility and case strategy

  • Prepare clients and witnesses for testimony in court or USCIS interviews

  • Analyze cases and provide clients with legal options and recommendations

Requirements

  • 5–8 years of experience practicing immigration law

  • Proven ability to manage a full caseload independently and efficiently

  • Strong ability to collaborate with other attorneys and support staff

  • Background in handling family-based immigration, EOIR proceedings, humanitarian applications, detained cases, and USCIS petitions

  • Familiarity with case management software (preferred)

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish (preferred but not required)

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school

Certifications

  • Active license to practice law in the United States

  • Excellent interpersonal and client communication abilities

  • High-level legal research, writing, and analytical skills

  • Strong organizational and time management skills

  • Ability to perform effectively in a high-volume, fast-paced legal environment
