A law firm is seeking an experienced Trial Attorney to join their team in Charlotte, NC. The ideal candidate will have over 10 years of experience in plaintiff’s litigation, specializing in personal injury cases. This role involves providing comprehensive legal advice, developing case strategies, and representing clients in various legal proceedings, including trials, mediations, and arbitrations.

Duties:

  • Provide expert legal advice on personal injury issues by conducting thorough legal research, keeping clients informed of case developments, analyzing both plaintiff’s and defendant’s positions, and explaining personal injury law concepts and actions.
  • Develop personal injury cases by reviewing investigative findings, police reports, medical reports, medical examiner’s reports, and reports from state and federal agencies.
  • Consult with experts, take and defend depositions, and complete the discovery process.
  • Prepare for personal injury cases by drafting legal briefs, developing case strategies, arguments, and testimony.
  • Maintain case progress by adhering to productivity and quality standards, resolving operational problems, and identifying areas for process improvement.
  • Resolve cases through settlement, mediation, arbitration, and trial. Plan, organize, and present arguments, counter-arguments, and evidence. Engage expert witnesses, prepare and present evidence, and interrogate witnesses.
  • Present closing arguments to the jury and effectively manage all aspects of the trial process.
  • Continuously improve case outcomes by evaluating and redesigning processes and implementing necessary changes.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Admission in good standing to the North Carolina State Bar.
  • Admission in good standing to the South Carolina State Bar is preferred.
  • Over 10 years of plaintiff’s litigation experience in personal injury cases.

Skills:

  • Extensive experience in personal injury litigation and trial advocacy.
  • Strong legal research and analytical skills.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to develop and execute effective case strategies.
  • Proficient in case preparation, including drafting briefs and preparing arguments.
  • Skilled in engaging and examining expert witnesses, and presenting evidence in court.
  • Ability to manage multiple cases effectively while maintaining high quality standards.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and ability to implement process improvements.
