This role focuses on patent preparation and prosecution, patentability and clearance opinions, patent portfolio management, licensing, and patent enforcement across various industries. The ideal candidate will have expertise in Chemical Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, or Materials Science and a passion for intellectual property law.

Duties

  • Prepare and prosecute patent applications for clients in diverse industries.
  • Conduct patentability and clearance assessments.
  • Manage and develop patent portfolios tailored to clients' business strategies.
  • Advise on licensing agreements and enforcement strategies for intellectual property rights.
  • Deliver exceptional legal work product and meet billing requirements to maintain client satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with team members and leverage resources, including junior associates and support staff.
  • Handle multiple client matters at various stages of progression, ensuring quality and efficiency.

Requirements

  • Experience: At least 3 years of experience as a licensed attorney in a law firm or similar setting.
  • Expertise: Strong foundation in patent prosecution and preparation, with a focus on Chemical Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, or Materials Science.
  • Attributes: Exceptional attention to detail, ability to work independently and in a team, and strong interpersonal skills for client communication.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Chemical Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, or Materials Science preferred.

Certifications

  • Licensed attorney in good standing in at least one jurisdiction where the firm operates.
  • Registration to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
