A law firm in San Diego, CA, seeks a knowledgeable Private Education Attorney to provide legal counsel and representation to private and independent schools on a variety of educational and employment matters. The ideal candidate will have experience in employment law and a strong understanding of the legal issues affecting private educational institutions.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Advise private and independent schools on enrollment agreements, employment contracts, waivers, and student/parent policies and handbooks.
  • Conduct legal research and provide guidance on employee and student investigations, discipline, terminations, and severance agreements.
  • Assist in resolving tuition disputes and addressing wage and hour issues.
  • Draft and review privacy policies and ensure compliance with mandated reporting requirements.
  • Represent clients in administrative hearings and litigation, when necessary.

 

Requirements:

  • JD degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Admission to the California Bar and in good standing.
  • 2-3 years of experience practicing law, preferably with a focus on employment matters.
  • Experience working with private schools or non-profit organizations is advantageous.
  • Strong understanding of state and federal employment laws and regulations.
  • Excellent analytical, research, and writing skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to providing high-quality legal services and maintaining client relationships.

 

Education and Certifications:

  • JD degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Active license to practice law in the state of California.

 

Skills:

  • Knowledge of employment law and its application in educational settings.
  • Legal research and writing proficiency.
  • Ability to provide strategic legal advice and counsel.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills.
  • Team player with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and clients.
