Job Responsibilities:

• Draft, file, and prosecute biotechnology-related patent applications.

• Engage in client counseling related to patent prosecution and IP protection strategies.
• Assist in due diligence activities, including freedom-to-operate and patentability analysis.
• Collaborate with clients, inventors, and scientists to understand the technological aspects of their inventions.
• Communicate with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) and foreign patent offices to ensure proper filings and responses to office actions.
• Participate in patent litigation support, including research and providing technical expertise.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of biotech industry developments and evolving patent laws.
• Attend industry events and contribute to the firm's business development initiatives.

Requirements:

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in biotechnology patent prosecution.
• Admission to the USPTO.
• Admission to the New York State Bar or eligibility for admission.
• Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Education:

• Ph.D. in biology, molecular biology, cellular biology, biochemistry, or a related discipline is required.
• J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school with strong academic credentials.
