A law firm in Boston is seeking a Senior Associate Attorney with at least 7 years of experience in zoning and land use matters. The ideal candidate will have a strong academic record and extensive experience working with the Boston Planning & Development Agency (BPDA) and other relevant agencies and boards.

 

Duties:

  • Represent clients in various Boston land use and zoning matters, including Article 80 large and small project reviews, planned development areas, exceptions, conditional use permits, and variances.
  • Handle designations and alterations of landmark buildings and districts.
  • Manage MEPA reviews and Chapter 91 licensure processes.
  • Provide legal counsel and strategic advice to clients on land use regulations and zoning laws.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis on relevant statutes, regulations, and case law.
  • Draft and review legal documents, including applications, permits, and agreements.
  • Advocate on behalf of clients in hearings and meetings with government agencies and boards.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and stakeholders to achieve client objectives.

 

Requirements:

  • At least 7 years of experience working on zoning and land use matters.
  • Admission to the Massachusetts Bar.
  • Strong academic record preferred.
  • Extensive experience working with the BPDA and other Boston agencies and boards.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

 

Education:

Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

 

Certifications:

Admission to the Massachusetts Bar.

 

Skills:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of land use regulations and zoning laws.
  • Experience with Article 80 project reviews and MEPA reviews.
  • Legal research and analytical skills.
  • Drafting and reviewing legal documents.
