A law firm seeks an experienced Principal Attorney specializing in international trade law to join its Business Practice Group in Portland, OR. This role provides an opportunity to engage in complex international transactions across diverse industries, focusing on trade compliance, customs regulations, and international trade agreements. The attorney will work collaboratively with a seasoned team across multiple practice areas to deliver effective legal support to clients involved in global trade.

Duties

  • Advise clients on international trade compliance and customs matters, including tariff classification, valuation, and transfer pricing.
  • Provide counsel on issues related to forced labor compliance and manage customs enforcement on antidumping and countervailing duty orders.
  • Support clients in understanding and adhering to trade agreements and related regulations.
  • Collaborate with attorneys across various practice areas to deliver holistic solutions for clients.
  • Represent clients in dealings with regulatory bodies concerning trade compliance and enforcement.

Requirements

  • Experience: Minimum of 7 years in international trade law, with expertise in customs and import compliance, tariff classification, valuation, transfer pricing, and enforcing antidumping and countervailing duties.
  • Book of Business: Portable book of business is required.
  • Academic Credentials: JD from an ABA-accredited law school with strong academic performance.
  • Licensing: Active law license.
  • Skills: Proficient in legal analysis, documentation, and a client-centric approach.
  • Communication: Exceptional communication skills to guide clients effectively.
  • Teamwork: Capable of working independently and within a collaborative team environment.
  • Project Management: Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an ABA-accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active license to practice law.
