Job Overview
A prestigious global law firm is seeking a Senior Projects Lawyer with over 7 years of experience in construction, procurement, and project development. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in the renewable energy, energy transition, and oil & gas sectors. This position offers an opportunity to work on innovative projects involving renewable energy, energy storage, hydrogen, and other cutting-edge energy technologies. The successful candidate will work closely with leading developers, investors, and energy companies on large-scale, high-profile infrastructure projects.

Location

  • Houston, Texas

Duties

  • Draft and negotiate complex project documents, including EPC agreements, O&M agreements, equipment supply contracts, and power purchase agreements (PPAs).
  • Provide legal counsel on risk allocation, insurance, and financing structures in energy and infrastructure projects.
  • Advise on renewable energy, energy storage, hydrogen, and other energy transition technologies.
  • Collaborate with developers, energy companies, and investors on large-scale infrastructure projects.
  • Work on energy transition projects and offer strategic legal and business advice.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in projects, construction, and development law.
  • In-house legal experience at an energy company, developer, or infrastructure firm is preferred.
  • Strong background in risk allocation, insurance, and financing in energy and infrastructure projects.
  • Knowledge of renewable energy projects and energy transition technologies is highly desirable.
  • Exceptional drafting, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong commercial mindset with the ability to provide strategic legal and business advice.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active Bar membership in relevant state(s).

Skills

  • Expertise in drafting and negotiating complex construction, procurement, and development agreements.
  • Knowledge of renewable energy, infrastructure, and energy transition technologies.
  • Ability to advise on risk management, financing structures, and legal negotiations.
  • Strong problem-solving, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Commercially focused with the ability to offer strategic legal and business counsel.
