Job Overview:
A law firm is seeking a skilled Senior Associate Attorney to support clients in navigating the immigration process, particularly securing work visas and green cards for foreign national employees. This is a high-paced role where the Senior Associate Attorney will work with both entrepreneurs and large corporations. The position requires strong expertise in business immigration, including a variety of non-immigrant and immigrant visa categories. The ideal candidate will possess a growth mindset and demonstrate a commitment to exceptional client service and efficient case management.

Location:

  • Chicago, IL.

Duties:

  • Evaluate immigration cases and develop case strategies.
  • Guide clients and employees through various immigration processes.
  • Conduct regular phone calls with clients regarding legal updates and best practices.
  • Review petitions and responses to governmental inquiries for US immigration benefits, prepared by junior attorneys and paralegals.
  • Review global immigration benefit petitions prepared by external counsel partners.
  • Respond to client and foreign national inquiries and communication.
  • Maintain long-term relationships with clients throughout their careers.
  • Provide leadership and support to assigned teams, including junior attorneys and paralegals.
  • Provide coverage for attorneys on vacation or leave of absence.
  • Perform legal research and prepare memoranda or legal briefs.
  • Collaborate with other attorneys or departments within the firm on projects and initiatives.

Requirements:

  • Licensed attorney in the United States.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a high-volume business immigration environment.
  • Expertise in the following non-immigrant visa types: H-1B, H-1B1, E-3, TN, L-1, O-1.
  • Expertise in all stages of the PERM process, including PERM, I-140, and Adjustment of Status.
  • Experience with E-2, O-1, NIW, and EB-1A petitions, especially for entrepreneurs and start-ups, is strongly desired.
  • Demonstrated ability to generate and retain clients is highly preferred.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active license to practice law in the United States.

  • In-depth knowledge of business immigration laws and processes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to manage a high caseload efficiently.
