Criminal Defense Attorney

A law firm in San Joaquin is seeking a Criminal Defense Attorney with 2+ years of experience to manage a diverse caseload and provide expert legal representation to clients. The ideal candidate will handle all aspects of criminal defense from pretrial to post-conviction, with proficiency in federal, state, and local court proceedings. Bilingual proficiency in Spanish is preferred, and the role requires strong interpersonal skills for effective client communication and teamwork.

Job Duties:

• Manage and prioritize caseload effectively, from intake to resolution.
• Advise clients on legal rights and strategize on case defenses.
• Draft legal documents including motions, pleadings, and briefs.
• Attend pretrial hearings and represent clients in court proceedings.
• Conduct legal research and analyze case precedents to assess outcomes.
• Interview witnesses, gather evidence, and prepare for depositions.
• Negotiate plea agreements and settlements on behalf of clients.
• Prepare clients thoroughly for trial and hearings.
• Collaborate with fellow attorneys and legal staff on case strategies.
• Maintain accurate case files and documentation.

Requirements:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
• Admission to the State Bar of California (active and in good standing).
• 2+ years of experience practicing criminal defense law.
• Proven track record handling complex criminal cases at federal, state, and local levels.
• Strong courtroom presence and excellent litigation skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
• Bilingual proficiency in Spanish preferred.
