A law firm in Chicago, IL is seeking a White Collar and Government Investigations Associate Attorney with expertise in international trade regulatory compliance and enforcement. The ideal candidate will have 2-4 years of experience in this field, including work with the Committee on Foreign Investments (CFIUS), United States export controls, and International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). A general understanding of the Defense Priorities & Allocation System (DPAS) is preferred. The candidate should have a proven track record of supporting active teams in these areas and must be admitted and actively Barred in the state.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Represent clients in matters related to international trade regulatory compliance, including CFIUS, ITAR, and U.S. export controls.
  • Provide legal advice and strategic guidance on compliance with export controls and related regulations.
  • Assist in the preparation and submission of regulatory filings and applications.
  • Conduct thorough investigations and analyses of potential compliance issues.
  • Draft and review legal documents, including compliance policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with clients and internal teams to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements.
  • Respond to inquiries and investigations by government agencies related to international trade.
  • Stay current on developments in international trade regulations and advise clients accordingly.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to the development of strategies for managing regulatory compliance and enforcement.

Requirements:

  • 2-4 years of experience handling international trade regulatory, compliance, and enforcement matters.
  • Experience with CFIUS, ITAR, and U.S. export controls is required.
  • General knowledge of the Defense Priorities & Allocation System (DPAS) is preferred.
  • Strong background in supporting active teams in complex regulatory environments.
  • Must be admitted and actively Barred in the state of Illinois.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the Illinois State Bar and active Bar status.

Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of international trade regulations, including CFIUS, ITAR, and U.S. export controls.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in legal research and drafting.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
