Insurance Defense Attorney

A law firm seeks an experienced Insurance Defense Attorney to join their team in downtown Manhattan. This full-time, hybrid position offers an excellent opportunity for a skilled attorney with 3+ years of experience in insurance defense matters to work on a wide range of cases for major insurance companies. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in motor vehicle accidents, premises liability, construction liability, and Labor Law cases, as well as experience in writing motions, conducting depositions, and managing client communications.

Duties

• Handle a variety of insurance defense claims, including motor vehicle accidents, Labor Law, premises liability, and construction liability matters
• Report to multiple insurance companies by their specific guidelines
• Conduct depositions and assist in gathering evidence for defense cases
• Write and argue motions in court
• Draft pleadings and other legal documents
• Collaborate with colleagues on case strategy, liability analysis, and valuation discussions
• Maintain client relationships and provide regular updates on case progress
• Attend in-person meetings or hearings as required by case demands

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in insurance defense litigation
• Strong writing skills and experience drafting legal documents
• Ability to conduct depositions and argue motions
• Familiarity with insurance defense practices and litigation
• Ability to work autonomously while maintaining strong teamwork and collaboration
• Experience reporting to insurance companies according to their specific guidelines
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• No trial or appellate experience is required

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications

• Active state bar license
