Global Finance Associate

Job Overview:
A leading law firm is seeking an experienced associate to join its Global Finance practice in Chicago. This position offers the opportunity to work on complex finance transactions, primarily representing lender clients. The ideal candidate will have experience in private credit/direct lending, syndicated lending, and asset-based lending. Familiarity with sponsor finance or leveraged buyout (LBO) finance is preferred. The successful candidate will be responsible for drafting and negotiating transaction documents and leading lending transactions.

Duties:

• Draft and negotiate transaction documents related to private credit, direct lending, syndicated lending, and asset-based lending
• Lead lending transactions, primarily representing lender clients
• Manage relationships with clients, guiding them through complex financial transactions
• Collaborate with team members and senior attorneys to ensure transaction success
• Provide legal advice and strategy regarding lending transactions and associated issues
• Review and analyze financial documents, ensuring accuracy and compliance
• Stay current with developments in global finance law and apply them to client matters

Requirements:

• Experience in private credit/direct lending, syndicated lending, and asset-based lending
• Familiarity with sponsor finance and leveraged buyout (LBO) transactions preferred
• Proven ability to draft and negotiate complex financial transaction documents
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects efficiently in a fast-paced environment
• Strong client management and relationship-building skills

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

• Admission to the Illinois Bar, or eligibility for prompt admission

Skills:

• Excellent drafting, negotiation, and analytical skills
• In-depth understanding of global finance and lending transactions
• Strong legal research and writing skills
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
