Job Overview:
A well-established law firm in Orange, CA is seeking an experienced Senior Immigration Attorney to join its Immigration practice. This role offers a great opportunity for an attorney with 5-8 years of immigration law experience to manage a diverse caseload while working with a dynamic team. Duties:

  • Explain immigration concepts and develop strategic solutions for clients.
  • Represent non-detained and detained individuals in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and the Board of Immigration Appeals.
  • Manage a significant caseload of cases and oversee case progression.
  • Visit and conduct intake interviews with detained individuals at centers.
  • Prepare various immigration applications, including removal defense and family-based immigration petitions.
  • Review immigration applications and packets, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community-based organizations to stay informed about changes in immigration law.
  • Meet with potential clients for strategic immigration consultations and develop case strategies.
  • Prepare clients and witnesses for court appearances and USCIS testimony.
  • Provide legal analysis to determine potential benefits for clients' cases.
  • Draft and submit legal briefs for various immigration cases.

Requirements:

  • 5-8 years of experience in Immigration Law.
  • Proven ability to manage a caseload effectively and move cases forward.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with a team of attorneys and staff.
  • Experience with Family-Based Petitions, Humanitarian cases, EOIR, Detained cases, Citizenship, and other USCIS applications.
  • Preferably bilingual (English/Spanish).
  • Experience with case management software is preferred.

Education & Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Active membership in the California State Bar.
  • Additional certifications in immigration law are a plus.

Skills:

  • Strong communication and client management skills.
  • Ability to strategize and collaborate effectively with colleagues.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for preparing legal briefs and interacting with clients.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong understanding of immigration law and procedures.
  • Experience in court appearances and handling removal proceedings.
