A law firm seeks an experienced Associate or Senior Counsel to join its Real Estate Investments and Transactions Department. The department handles complex commercial real estate transactions nationwide, including mortgage and mezzanine lending, acquisitions, dispositions, leasing, joint ventures, and distressed real estate situations across various asset classes such as office, retail, industrial, life science, hospitality, and multifamily. This role is ideal for candidates with significant experience representing lenders in commercial real estate lending transactions.

Duties:

  • Represent lenders in complex commercial real estate lending transactions.
  • Handle mortgage and mezzanine lending, acquisitions, dispositions, leasing, joint ventures, and distressed real estate matters.
  • Negotiate and draft legal documents, including loan agreements, purchase agreements, leases, and joint venture agreements.
  • Provide legal counsel to clients on real estate investments and transactional matters.
  • Conduct due diligence, manage closings, and handle all aspects of real estate deals.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and clients to ensure efficient transaction management.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience representing lenders in commercial real estate lending transactions, ideally at a large law firm.
  • Strong experience in handling complex real estate transactions across various asset classes.
  • Excellent writing, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple high-level real estate transactions simultaneously.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the New York State Bar (required).

Skills:

  • Proficiency in commercial real estate law and transaction management.
  • Strong negotiation, drafting, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.
