A law firm specializing in Intellectual Property seeks a Patent Associate Attorney to support its IP Practice. The role involves strategic development, procurement, and counseling of patent portfolios, particularly in the computer arts including software, AI/ML/LLMs, web applications, telecommunications, and integrated circuits.

Duties:

  • Draft patent applications, particularly in the computer arts such as software, AI/ML/LLMs, web applications, telecommunications, and integrated circuits.
  • Prosecute patent applications before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
  • Conduct patentability and infringement analyses.
  • Counsel clients on IP strategy and portfolio management.
  • Assist in IP litigation as needed.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the State Bar of Texas or eligibility for admission via reciprocity.
  • Registration to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
  • Strong academic credentials with a preference for candidates with a degree or advanced degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science. Candidates with degrees in Mechanical Engineering or related fields will also be considered.
  • Should have experience in patent prosecution and drafting, with a focus on software patents preferred.
  • Comfortable interacting directly with clients and providing strategic IP advice.
  • Excellent writing and analytical skills.

Skills:

  • Proficiency in drafting and prosecuting patent applications.
  • Ability to conduct patentability and infringement analyses.
  • Strong understanding of IP law and regulations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Detail-oriented and organized approach to work.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the State Bar of Texas.
  • Registration to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
