Associate Attorney - Litigation

A law firm seeks an experienced and driven Associate Attorney to join its team in New York City. This position offers an excellent opportunity for attorneys with 2-5 years of experience in litigation, particularly in tort defense, labor and employment, and general business matters. The successful candidate will have the chance to work in a collaborative environment while managing a variety of complex legal projects. Duties

• Draft legal motions, briefs, and memoranda of law in preparation for court hearings and depositions.
• Conduct and defend depositions, as well as participate in court hearings.
• Manage multiple legal matters simultaneously, ensuring deadlines are met and clients are updated regularly.
• Collaborate with senior attorneys on strategic approaches to cases, providing both research and drafting support.
• Communicate regularly with clients and opposing counsel to facilitate case management.
• Independently manage legal files and ensure all relevant documents are up-to-date and accessible.

Requirements

• Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in litigation, particularly in tort defense and labor and employment law.
• Strong background in drafting and researching legal documents, including motions, briefs, and memoranda.
• Ability to independently manage a case docket and collaborate with senior attorneys as needed.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to balance multiple priorities.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• High attention to detail and the ability to solve complex legal issues.

Education

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Admission to the New York State Bar (required).
