Intellectual Property Litigation Associate

A law firm seeks an Intellectual Property Litigation Associate to join its dynamic team in Washington, DC. Duties

• Represent clients in complex patent and trade secret litigation matters.
• Conduct in-depth technical analysis and provide strategic legal counsel in IP-related cases.
• Draft pleadings, motions, and other legal documents, with an emphasis on clear, persuasive writing.
• Collaborate closely with clients and team members to develop and implement litigation strategies.
• Manage discovery processes and assist in trial preparation.
• Present oral arguments and participate in hearings, depositions, and trials as needed.
• Assist in the negotiation and settlement of disputes related to intellectual property.

Requirements

• 2 to 4 years of experience in patent or trade secret litigation.
• Strong technical background with an undergraduate degree in engineering, physics, computer science, or a closely related field.
• Admission to the DC Bar is required.
• Registration to practice before the USPTO is strongly preferred.
• Advanced technical or scientific degrees, industry experience, and familiarity with computer programming are considered a plus.
• Demonstrated ability to conduct technical analysis and prepare clear, persuasive legal writing.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative team.
• Ability to assume immediate responsibility in handling complex cases.

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
• Undergraduate degree in engineering, physics, computer science, or a closely related field.

Certifications

• Active membership in the DC Bar.
• Registration to practice before the USPTO (preferred).
