A law firm seeks an experienced Associate Attorney to join its Santa Maria, CA team. The successful candidate will have at least three years of experience in the legal field. Duties:

  • Legal Research & Analysis: Conduct in-depth legal research using platforms such as Westlaw to support case preparation and strategy development. Identify relevant statutes, case law, and precedents to inform legal advice and strategies.
  • Document Drafting & Review: Draft, review, and revise legal documents including pleadings, briefs, and correspondence, ensuring accuracy and clarity.
  • Case Management: Manage a diverse caseload in areas including estate planning, business and real estate law, and general civil litigation. Ensure that case files are properly maintained and up to date, in compliance with firm standards.
  • Client Representation & Advocacy: Represent clients in negotiations, mediations, and settlement discussions, working to achieve favorable outcomes while maintaining professional relationships with opposing counsel and court officials.
  • Client Communication & Guidance: Maintain regular communication with clients to provide case updates, answer questions, and offer legal guidance throughout their cases.
  • Collaboration & Team Support: Work closely with senior attorneys on case strategy, legal research, document preparation, and administrative support to ensure smooth operation and client satisfaction.
  • Court Filings & Appearances: Prepare court documents and appear at hearings as required, ensuring compliance with procedural requirements and deadlines.
  • Professional Development: Stay current on legal developments in relevant practice areas. Participate in continuing legal education to enhance skills and maintain licensure.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience.
  • Strong proficiency in legal research platforms (e.g., Westlaw) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple cases effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain legal concepts to clients and colleagues.
  • Demonstrated ability to draft and review legal documents with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Experience in negotiations and mediation, with a focus on achieving positive outcomes for clients.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, with a strong focus on client service and collaboration.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active membership in the California State Bar.
