A law firm seeks a motivated Associate Attorney to join its personal injury team in Houston, TX. The firm is looking for an individual who is eager to handle a diverse caseload, including motor vehicle accidents and slip-and-fall cases. While prior personal injury experience is preferred, the firm is open to considering candidates with a general litigation background or newly licensed attorneys. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively with a team, manage multiple cases, and contribute to the firm’s overall success.

Duties

  • Manage a docket of 50-60 litigation cases, focusing primarily on motor vehicle accidents and slip-and-fall incidents.
  • Respond to discovery requests in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Draft initial pleadings and issue written discovery.
  • Prepare clients for depositions and guide legal processes.
  • Conduct legal research to support case strategies and motions.
  • Interact with clients regularly, offering case updates and addressing concerns.
  • Handle motion practice, including drafting and filing motions as necessary.
  • Assist in trial preparation, including organizing evidence and preparing witnesses.
  • Perform various tasks as directed by senior attorneys and partners.
  • Travel within Texas may be required for cases outside Harris County.

Requirements

  • Active license to practice law in Texas (required).
  • 1-2 years of experience in personal injury or general litigation (preferred but not mandatory).
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with clients, attorneys, and staff.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage a heavy caseload and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to travel within Texas for select cases.
  • Proficient in legal research and using case management software.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Texas Bar License (required).
