Job Overview:

A law firm is seeking a highly skilled Liquor Attorney to join their team in Washington, DC. This role involves working with clients in the alcohol, beverage, and cannabis industries on licensing, trade practice compliance, distribution, contracts, and dispute resolution. The successful candidate will collaborate with a talented team of attorneys across the firm’s offices and contribute to a collegial office environment focused on client service and teamwork.

Duties:

  • Provide legal counsel on licensing, trade practice compliance, and distribution issues.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts related to the alcohol, beverage, and cannabis industries.
  • Resolve disputes and manage regulatory compliance matters.
  • Collaborate with and help manage a team of attorneys across various offices.
  • Maintain and develop client relationships to support business growth.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • License to practice law.
  • Minimum of 7+ years of experience in liquor-related legal matters.
  • Strong academic credentials and excellent analytical and writing skills.
  • Demonstrated client-service approach and exceptional communication skills.

Education:

  • JD from an ABA-accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active license to practice law in the relevant jurisdiction.

Skills:

  • Expertise in liquor law and related compliance issues.
  • Ability to manage and mentor a diverse team of attorneys.
  • Proficiency in drafting and negotiating complex contracts.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Enthusiasm for working with a diverse team and building client relationships.
  • FDA experience and a partial book of business are advantageous.
