A law firm seeks a talented and driven Immigration Attorney to join their growing team in Los Angeles. This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney with 1-4 years of experience in immigration law to manage a caseload, interact with clients, and collaborate with an experienced immigration team. Duties

  • Represent individuals in immigration proceedings, including removal hearings and appeals before the Immigration Court and Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA).
  • Handle non-detained and detained client cases, including conducting intake interviews at detention centers.
  • Prepare and submit immigration applications, such as removal defense petitions, family-based immigration filings, and other USCIS applications.
  • Review and refine immigration documents to ensure completeness and compliance with legal requirements.
  • Consult with clients to determine the best strategies for their immigration cases and provide ongoing legal guidance.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement, prosecutors, and community-based organizations on changes in immigration law and policy.
  • Provide legal analysis to assess potential benefits for clients and develop strategies accordingly.
  • Prepare clients and witnesses for court appearances or USCIS interviews.
  • Draft and file legal briefs and motions for various immigration-related cases.
  • Manage a caseload while meeting deadlines and maintaining high-quality work.

Requirements

  • Experience:
    • 1-4 years of experience in immigration law, specifically with family-based petitions, humanitarian relief, EOIR proceedings, detained cases, citizenship applications, and USCIS filings.
    • Proven ability to manage a caseload and move legal cases forward efficiently.
    • Experience with case management software is preferred.
  • Skills:
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
    • Excellent legal analysis and problem-solving capabilities.
    • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
    • Attention to detail and ability to handle complex legal documentation.
    • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is preferred but not required.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Admitted to practice law in California.

Skills

  • Knowledge of immigration law, particularly EOIR procedures, USCIS applications, and family-based petitions.
  • Strong research, legal writing, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage a variety of cases and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Capacity to collaborate with colleagues in a dynamic legal environment.
