Job Overview

A nationally recognized law firm is seeking an experienced attorney to join its National Discovery Counsel Team based in Bloomfield Hills. This senior-level position involves managing large-scale discovery efforts in high-profile automotive product liability and California breach of warranty matters. The role requires deep expertise in complex litigation and discovery strategy, with the opportunity to lead legal staff and interact directly with clients and opposing counsel.

Duties

  • Lead and manage the discovery process in complex automotive litigation matters

  • Draft, revise, and finalize discovery responses, including interrogatories and document requests

  • Oversee large-scale document review and production projects

  • Coordinate with clients regarding litigation strategy, discovery needs, and production obligations

  • Engage in meet-and-confer discussions with opposing counsel

  • Draft and argue discovery-related motions

  • Supervise and mentor staff attorneys, paralegals, and other litigation support team members

  • Maintain accurate documentation and reporting related to case discovery activity

  • Ensure compliance with court rules, deadlines, and client protocols

Requirements

  • Minimum 8 years of experience focused on litigation and discovery in complex product liability matters

  • Extensive knowledge of California breach of warranty law

  • Experience managing large-scale document productions

  • Ability to lead and mentor legal support staff

  • Strong understanding of eDiscovery tools, workflows, and best practices

  • Comfortable interacting with clients and opposing counsel

Education

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school

Certifications

  • Admission to the Michigan Bar required

  • Admission to the California Bar is a plus
