Job Overview
A highly regarded law firm based in Washington, DC is seeking an experienced attorney to join its Real Estate practice group in a strategic, long-term counsel role. This position offers an opportunity to work on innovative renewable energy infrastructure projects, advising developers and clients on complex property transactions. The role is ideal for a detail-oriented legal professional who thrives in a collaborative environment and is looking for a career path outside the traditional partnership model.

Duties

  • Advise on property acquisition, leasing, and development matters for renewable energy clients

  • Draft, negotiate, and review real estate transaction documents, including purchase and sale agreements and lease agreements

  • Navigate title and survey issues; coordinate with title insurers and surveyors

  • Review and analyze title commitments, identify defects, and prepare curative instruments

  • Guide site control strategies and title insurance coverage specific to utility-scale renewable projects

  • Participate in closings and prepare necessary transactional documentation

  • Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams within the firm on energy, regulatory, and environmental aspects

  • Support the continued development of internal best practices and client advisory tools

Requirements

  • 7-10 years of substantive legal experience in real estate transactions

  • Proficiency with title, survey, and land use issues related to renewable energy projects

  • Strong command of legal drafting and negotiation in real estate contexts

  • Experience advising developers and working with title companies and survey professionals

  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex workloads and meet high standards for client service

  • Admission to the District of Columbia Bar (required)

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited U.S. law school

Certifications

  • Active and in good standing with the District of Columbia Bar

Skills

  • Exceptional attention to detail and analytical thinking

  • Superior written and verbal communication abilities

  • High level of professional judgment and discretion

  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a team-oriented environment

  • Familiarity with renewable energy sector trends and regulatory landscape (preferred)
