A law firm seeks a passionate and driven Employment Law Attorney to join its growing team in Los Angeles. Duties

  • Manage and prosecute employment law cases from inception through trial, including conducting discovery, legal research, and drafting motions.
  • Handle a significant caseload with the support of a team of case managers and legal assistants.
  • Conduct fact investigations, propound and respond to discovery requests, and engage in settlement negotiations and mediation.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, and all stakeholders, conveying legal strategies and updates clearly and professionally.
  • Attend and participate in jury trials, arbitration hearings, and informal discovery conferences.
  • Provide counsel and legal support to clients in a variety of employment law matters, ensuring a thorough understanding of their cases and legal rights.
  • Maintain excellent documentation of case files, ensuring deadlines and legal obligations are met.

Requirements

  • 1 to 7 years of experience in pre-litigation or civil litigation within the field of employment law (experience in wrongful termination, wage and hour disputes, and discrimination cases is preferred).
  • Proficiency in legal research, writing, and the ability to draft complex legal documents.
  • Strong interest in employment law and its various facets, including FEHA, wrongful termination, and wage and hour actions.
  • Self-motivated, with excellent time management and multitasking skills.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively with minimal supervision while remaining detail-oriented.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active Bar admission in the state of California.

Skills

  • Strong legal research and writing skills, with the ability to analyze and communicate legal concepts.
  • Effective communicator, able to convey complex legal strategies simply and understandably.
  • Experience or interest in representing clients in employment law matters, particularly in the areas of wrongful termination, harassment, wage disputes, and discrimination.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Comfortable handling high-pressure situations and meeting deadlines.
  • Highly organized and proactive, able to independently manage a diverse caseload.
