Job Overview:
A law firm seeks a motivated and compassionate Litigation Attorney to join their growing team in Akron, OH. The ideal candidate will focus on personal injury cases, ensuring that clients receive exceptional legal representation. This role involves handling all aspects of litigation, from client intake through trial preparation and, if necessary, trial representation. The attorney will work closely with clients, insurance companies, and medical providers to negotiate settlements and prepare litigation cases.

Duties:

  • Review and evaluate medical records in connection with personal injury cases.
  • Negotiate settlements during both pre-litigation and litigation stages.
  • Analyze insurance policies, claims, and other relevant documentation.
  • Prepare and draft legal documents, including legal memoranda, theories of liability, and demand letters.
  • Communicate with insurance companies to coordinate client medical treatments and billing.
  • Provide regular updates to clients regarding case status and progress.
  • Conduct intake meetings with new clients and manage ongoing client relationships.
  • Manage a docket of cases in accordance with firm policies.
  • Attend independent medical examinations (IMEs), and examinations under oath (EUOs), and handle recorded statements as needed.
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions.
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned by management.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years experience in personal injury law.
  • Medical malpractice experience is preferred but not required.
  • Strong negotiation skills with the ability to advocate for clients effectively.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in legal research, analysis, and document drafting.
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple cases simultaneously.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Licensed to practice law in the state of Ohio and in good standing.

Skills:

  • Proficiency in legal research, analysis, and case management.
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills, with the ability to effectively use office software and legal databases.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally with clients, colleagues, and opposing parties.
  • Analytical thinking and the ability to provide sound recommendations for case strategies.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a team environment.
