Duties:

  • Represent clients in removal proceedings before the Immigration Court and the Board of Immigration Appeals, handling both detained and non-detained cases.
  • Manage a caseload of immigration matters, ensuring timely and effective case progression.
  • Conduct client intakes, including visits to detention centers.
  • Prepare a wide range of immigration applications, such as removal defense and family-based petitions.
  • Review and edit immigration applications to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community organizations to address changes in immigration laws.
  • Meet with prospective clients for strategic consultations, developing tailored case strategies.
  • Prepare clients and witnesses for court appearances and USCIS interviews.
  • Provide legal analysis to identify benefits or potential risks in clients’ cases.
  • Draft and submit legal briefs and documents for various immigration-related matters.

Requirements:

  • 1-5 years of experience in Immigration Law, particularly in EOIR proceedings.
  • Strong teamwork orientation and willingness to collaborate with colleagues.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred, but not required.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to manage a diverse caseload efficiently.
  • Familiarity with Family-Based Petitions, Humanitarian Relief, EOIR proceedings, Detained cases, and other USCIS applications.
  • Experience with Case Management Software is an advantage.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active Bar admission in good standing.

Certifications:

  • Licensed to practice law in Texas (or eligible for admission).

Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of immigration laws and regulations.
  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to represent clients effectively in both written and oral formats.
  • Highly organized with the ability to handle a heavy caseload.
  • Familiarity with legal case management tools and software.
