Family Law Associate Attorney

Job Overview:
A reputable law firm in downtown Tacoma, WA, is seeking an Associate Attorney to join its family law team. This role offers the opportunity for hands-on experience in family law, with a focus on client representation and litigation. The selected candidate will work closely with senior attorneys and receive mentorship while progressively managing their own cases, from client consultations to trial representation.

Duties:

• Conduct legal research and analysis to support case preparation and strategic planning.
• Draft motions, briefs, and client correspondence.
• Advocate for clients in and outside the courtroom, representing them in mediations, arbitrations, and trials.
• Manage discovery processes, including written discovery and depositions.
• Prepare for and represent clients throughout all stages of family law cases.
• Assist with litigation strategy and case management by organizing evidence, preparing case files, and collaborating with senior attorneys.
• Maintain organized records of legal documents and correspondence for ongoing cases.

Requirements:

• Minimum of 1 year of practice experience, with litigation experience preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to work on multiple projects with competing deadlines.
• Effective communication skills, both in and outside the courtroom.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
• Ability to identify client goals and communicate effectively with clients.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree.

Certifications:

• Active membership in good standing with the Washington State Bar (WSBA).

Skills:

• Strong research and writing skills to clearly articulate complex legal concepts.
• Proficient in negotiation and conflict resolution.
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities and maintain a positive attitude.
