A law firm seeks an experienced Attorney Specialist to join its growing Asset Management and Investment Funds (AMIF) practice group in Wilmington, DE. This permanent position is ideal for individuals interested in non-partnership track opportunities. The Attorney Specialist will play a key role in assisting with mutual fund filings, and new fund launches, and ensuring compliance with regulations under the 1940 Act. The role offers an opportunity to work closely with partners and associates on significant client relationships in a specialized and dynamic area of law.

Duties:

  • Support registered fund attorneys with mutual fund and ETF filings, including new fund launches and updates to fund registration statements.
  • Review and prepare mutual fund shareholder reports and board materials.
  • Conduct legal research on matters related to the 1940 Act and provide actionable insights.
  • Assist in reviewing, analyzing, and updating mutual fund documents.
  • Collaborate with partners and other team members to ensure comprehensive legal support for clients in the asset management sector.
  • Manage multiple projects and deadlines while maintaining a high standard of work quality.

Requirements:

  • 5-10 years of direct experience in asset management or investment funds law, with specific experience in mutual fund compliance and the 1940 Act.
  • Strong project management abilities and demonstrated leadership skills, whether as a leader or team member.
  • Ability to work independently, while being a proactive collaborator within a team environment.
  • A client-focused mindset with the ability to provide high-level service in a complex legal landscape.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Licensed to practice law in the relevant jurisdiction (preferably Delaware).

Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of mutual fund regulations, the 1940 Act, and related compliance requirements.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex legal concepts clearly and effectively.
  • Advanced legal research and writing skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Expertise in drafting, reviewing, and preparing legal documents related to mutual funds and ETFs.
