Duties:

  • Provide legal counsel on immigration-related matters and explain strategic options to clients.
  • Represent clients, including both detained and non-detained individuals, in removal proceedings before Immigration Courts and the Board of Immigration Appeals.
  • Manage a caseload of diverse immigration cases and provide ongoing support to clients.
  • Conduct intake interviews with detained clients at detention centers.
  • Prepare and review various immigration applications, including removal defense and family-based petitions.
  • Adjust and modify immigration application packets as needed.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement, prosecutorial offices, and community-based organizations to navigate immigration law updates.
  • Meet with potential clients to provide strategic consultations and determine their legal pathway.
  • Develop legal strategies and prepare clients and witnesses for court appearances and USCIS testimony.
  • Draft and submit legal briefs for a range of immigration cases.

Requirements:

  • 1-4 years of experience in immigration law.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment, offering strategic input and collaborating with fellow associates.
  • Proficiency in handling Family-Based Petitions, Humanitarian petitions, EOIR, Detained cases, Citizenship applications, and other USCIS filings.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Preferred bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish.
  • Experience with Case Management Software (preferred).

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active admission to the State Bar.

Certifications:

  • Licensed attorney in good standing.

Skills:

  • Excellent case management abilities with a track record of efficiently progressing cases.
  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to navigate high-pressure environments and maintain composure in challenging situations.
  • Strong presentation skills and client service orientation.
