Job Overview:
A prestigious law firm is seeking a skilled and dedicated Project Finance Associate Attorney to join their team in Chicago, IL. The successful candidate will bring 3-5 years of experience in transactional law, particularly focusing on representing lenders or tax equity investors in renewable energy project finance deals. The role requires strong analytical skills, excellent writing abilities, and a solid foundation in project finance law.

Duties:

  • Represent lenders, tax equity investors, and other stakeholders in renewable energy project finance transactions.
  • Advise clients on structuring, negotiating, and documenting financial arrangements for large-scale energy projects.
  • Draft and review contracts and agreements related to project financing, including loan agreements, equity financing agreements, and related legal documents.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys and clients to navigate complex regulatory environments and ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Conduct due diligence and prepare legal reports to support transaction decisions.
  • Assist in developing legal strategies for project finance deals and provide proactive legal guidance to clients.

Requirements:

  • 3-5 years of transactional experience in project finance, with a focus on renewable energy.
  • Strong background in representing lenders or tax equity investors in energy-related projects.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Strong writing and communication skills, with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in financial modeling and understanding of project finance structures.
  • In-depth knowledge of energy law, including regulatory frameworks and tax incentives for renewable energy projects.

Education:

  • Juris Doctorate (JD) degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Membership in the Illinois Bar or eligibility for admission to the Illinois Bar.

Certifications:

  • Bar membership in the jurisdiction of practice (Illinois).

Skills:

  • Expertise in project finance law, particularly within the renewable energy sector.
  • Advanced legal research and writing capabilities.
  • Strong negotiation skills and the ability to handle complex contracts and legal documents.
  • Excellent communication and client relationship management skills.
