Job Overview:
A prominent law firm is seeking a skilled Debt Finance Associate for its Corporate Practice Group in Portland, OR. The ideal candidate will have 3-6 years of experience in structuring, negotiating, and documenting both secured and unsecured debt finance transactions. This role offers an opportunity to work on a range of complex debt finance matters across industries such as agribusiness, consumer products, technology, and forest products. The successful candidate will gain experience working with both company and lender-side clients, handling mid-market and larger transactions, and collaborating across practice groups and offices.

Location:

Duties:

  • Structure, negotiate, and document secured and unsecured debt finance transactions.
  • Manage leveraged finance transactions related to acquisitions, restructurings, and refinancings.
  • Work directly with clients, partners, and cross-office teams.
  • Produce client-ready documents independently and manage project workstreams.
  • Collaborate on complex transactions with other team members.
  • Engage in business development and participate in civic and professional organizations.
  • Foster and maintain strong working relationships with clients.

Requirements:

  • 3-6 years of experience in debt finance transactions.
  • Experience with sponsor-backed M&A and mezzanine, unitranche, and split-lien structures is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to negotiate and document complex transactions.
  • Proven track record of client service and maintaining strong relationships.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong business and professional judgment.
  • Interest in business development and community involvement.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active membership in or commitment to applying to the Oregon State Bar.

Skills:

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a legal team.
  • Good business judgment and desire to understand client goals.
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
