A law firm in Des Moines, IA is seeking a dedicated Personal Injury Attorney to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all aspects of personal injury cases, from initial client consultations through negotiations, depositions, hearings, and trials. The ideal attorney will have a passion for helping injured clients and their families achieve justice and recovery, and will thrive in a collaborative and client-focused environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Represent clients throughout all stages of personal injury cases, including initial consultations, case preparation, and trial representation.
  • Conduct thorough case reviews, analyzing medical records, accident reports, and other pertinent documents.
  • Negotiate settlements with insurance companies and opposing counsel to obtain fair compensation for clients.
  • Manage depositions, including preparation of witnesses and handling of the discovery process.
  • Draft and file legal documents such as motions, pleadings, and discovery requests.
  • Represent clients at hearings and trials, presenting evidence and legal arguments effectively.
  • Maintain regular communication with clients to provide updates and legal advice throughout the case process.
  • Oversee client intake, develop case strategies, and tailor legal approaches based on individual client needs.
  • Collaborate with medical experts, investigators, and other professionals to strengthen case arguments.
  • Ensure that case files are accurately maintained and updated, meeting all deadlines and legal requirements.
  • Contribute to firm-wide initiatives, supporting team development and achieving client success.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Must be admitted to practice law in Iowa, Wisconsin, Minnesota, or North Dakota.
  • Personal injury law experience or related litigation experience preferred.
  • Ability to reliably commute to the office and travel locally to meet with clients as needed.
  • Previous experience in a professional office environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to handle phone consultations and client interactions effectively.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the capability to manage multiple cases and deadlines efficiently.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative legal team.
  • High level of professionalism and the ability to manage sensitive and confidential matters with discretion.

Certifications:

  • Licensed to practice law in Iowa, Wisconsin, Minnesota, or North Dakota.
