A law firm is seeking an experienced and passionate Civil Rights Associate Attorney to join its team in Sacramento, CA. Duties:

  • Conduct thorough legal research to evaluate potential civil rights cases.

  • Participate in all stages of litigation, from case inception to resolution, including drafting pleadings, managing discovery, and preparing and arguing motions.

  • Take and defend depositions, represent clients in court hearings, and manage appeals.

  • Work closely with clients, including incarcerated individuals, from diverse backgrounds.

  • Collaborate with senior attorneys and the legal team to develop case strategies and drive case development forward.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor degree from an ABA-accredited law school.

  • Active license to practice law in the state of California.

  • 2-5 years of litigation experience, preferably in civil rights or constitutional law, including trial experience.

  • Strong skills in legal research, legal writing, and motion preparation.

  • Experience in managing depositions, court hearings, and appeals.

  • Interest in civil rights advocacy and a drive to contribute to case law development.

  • Passion for justice and civil rights, with a commitment to advancing these through litigation.

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a legal team.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active and valid license to practice law in California.
