Job Overview:
A well-established law firm in Silver Spring, MD, is seeking a motivated Associate Attorney to join its team. This position offers the opportunity to represent family law clients in legal proceedings, draft legal documents, and provide legal advice on various transactions. The ideal candidate will have litigation experience, a strong interest in family law, and a passion for helping clients navigate legal challenges. Location:

Duties:

  • Independently handle a caseload of family law cases
  • Represent clients in court and other legal proceedings
  • Prepare and draft legal documents, including petitions, motions, and other filings
  • Advise clients on legal transactions and provide guidance throughout the legal process
  • Negotiate settlements for legal disputes
  • Comply with all legal standards and regulations
  • Perform administrative and management functions related to the practice of law as needed
  • Build rapport with clients and maintain effective communication

Requirements:

  • 1-3 years of litigation experience
  • Ability to independently manage a caseload
  • Zealous advocacy skills and dedication to client representation
  • Familiarity with family law matters is a plus
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team
  • Maryland Bar License with the ability to waive into the DC Bar

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Maryland Bar License required
  • Ability to waive into DC Bar

Skills:

  • Family law experience preferred
  • Strong advocacy and negotiation skills
  • Organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent client communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency in legal research and writing
