Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct patentability searches and provide opinions on patent validity and infringement.
  • Interview inventors to gather necessary information for drafting patent applications.
  • Draft patent applications and responses to USPTO office actions.
  • Prosecute patent applications, including overcoming rejections under 35 U.S.C. §101.
  • Advise clients on patent strategy, portfolio management, and intellectual property rights.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and clients to achieve successful patent outcomes.

Requirements:

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
  • 1-4 years of experience in patent prosecution, with a focus on software technologies preferred.
  • Strong technical background or work experience in software, artificial intelligence, or machine learning.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong work ethic and commitment to delivering high-quality work.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in drafting and prosecuting patent applications in software and emerging technologies.
  • Familiarity with patent laws and regulations, particularly 35 U.S.C. §101.
