Post-Conviction Relief Attorney

A law firm in Orange County, CA, is seeking a skilled and experienced Post-Conviction Relief Attorney to join their team. Reporting to the Supervising Attorney, the candidate will manage a caseload of post-conviction relief cases, including motions to vacate, expungements, and early termination of probation. The role requires previous litigation or appellate experience and the ability to collaborate with the Post-Conviction Relief Team while providing legal representation to clients.

Key Duties:

• Manage a caseload of post-conviction relief cases and provide legal representation to clients.
• Advise clients on their legal rights and draw up legal documents related to their cases.
• Attend motion hearings on behalf of clients and advise them on best legal strategies.
• Handle open criminal cases, including arraignments, pre-trials, pleas, and sentencing.
• Manage court appearances, draft motions, interview clients, and conduct legal research.
• Analyze probable outcomes of cases using knowledge of legal precedents.
• Provide legal analysis to clients to determine potential case benefits.
• Collaborate with the Post-Conviction Relief Team of Attorneys and legal assistants.
• Experience with immigration law is highly desirable, as the position may involve interactions with both criminal and immigration practices.
• Bilingual proficiency in Spanish is strongly preferred.

Requirements:

• Previous litigation and/or appellate experience.
• Criminal Defense Experience or Immigration Law Experience.
• Experience handling criminal cases at the state and local level.
• Interpersonal skills of the highest caliber.

Education:

Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

Admission to the Bar in the State of California.

Skills:

• Strong legal research and writing abilities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage a caseload and prioritize tasks effectively.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and legal research tools.
• Bilingual proficiency in Spanish (strongly preferred).
