A law firm is seeking a dedicated and experienced Alcohol and Distribution Associate Attorney to join their team in Austin, TX. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in alcohol beverage law and related regulatory areas, as well as commercial corporate and M&A experience. This role requires excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and strong verbal and written communication abilities. The candidate must be a self-starter with the ability to manage competing demands, work well under pressure, and provide practical advice based on risk analysis.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide legal counsel on matters related to alcohol beverage law, including compliance, licensing, and regulatory issues.
  • Assist clients with navigating federal, state, and local alcohol beverage laws and regulations.
  • Handle commercial corporate transactions, including mergers and acquisitions (M&A).
  • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts related to the distribution and sale of alcohol beverages.
  • Represent clients before regulatory agencies and in administrative proceedings.
  • Conduct legal research and provide analysis on various regulatory and compliance matters.
  • Manage and oversee projects to ensure timely completion and compliance with legal standards.
  • Work collaboratively with other attorneys and support staff to deliver high-quality legal services to clients.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends and changes in relevant laws and regulations.
  • Provide practical and strategic advice to clients on risk management and regulatory compliance.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of alcohol beverage law experience (either in-house or at a peer firm).
  • Admitted to practice law in the jurisdiction of Texas.
  • Proven ability to independently manage legal matters or significant segments of large and complex projects.
  • Strong commercial corporate background with M&A experience.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Ability to prioritize workload effectively and handle multiple competing demands.
  • Good judgment and the ability to work well under pressure.
  • Demonstrated ability to frame advice and analysis practically based on risk assessment.

Education and Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Licensed and admitted to practice law in the state of Texas.

Preferred Experience:

  • Additional regulatory experience in areas such as FDA and food law.
  • Experience working in both in-house and law firm environments.

Skills:

  • Strong legal research and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in drafting and negotiating complex legal documents.
  • Ability to provide strategic legal advice and risk management solutions.
