This role involves managing patent prosecution, freedom-to-operate (FTO) analyses, due diligence projects, and providing strategic counseling. The position is ideal for a motivated professional with expertise in molecular or cellular biology and a passion for mentoring junior legal professionals.

Duties:

  • Manage and oversee patent prosecution processes, including client communications and strategic planning.
  • Conduct and supervise due diligence reviews and freedom-to-operate analyses.
  • Lead and organize meetings with large, globally active clients with substantial intellectual property portfolios.
  • Provide training and guidance to junior attorneys and technical specialists.
  • Participate actively in intellectual property counseling matters.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 4-5 years of experience in patent prosecution, due diligence, and FTO analysis.
  • Proven experience managing junior legal professionals and technical staff.
  • Strong client management skills, particularly for large, global portfolios.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a hard science, with a focus on molecular biology, cellular biology, gene therapy, or antibodies.
  • An advanced degree in a related field is highly preferred.

Certifications:

  • Licensed to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
  • Admission to the DC Bar or eligibility to waive in.
