A law firm in Sacramento, CA, is seeking a Medical Malpractice Associate Attorney with 1-3 years of experience. The candidate will be responsible for all aspects of litigation, including defense strategy development, written discovery, motion practice, depositions, trial preparation, and trial. Additionally, the role involves collaborating with partners and other associates to develop legal strategies and providing direction to supporting legal staff. Strong writing, oral advocacy, and time-management skills are essential, along with a demonstrated interest in civil litigation. Prior law firm experience is preferred, and candidates must be members in good standing with the California State Bar.

 

Duties:

  • Manage all aspects of medical malpractice litigation cases.
  • Develop defense strategies in collaboration with partners and other team members.
  • Conduct written discovery, including drafting and responding to discovery requests.
  • Prepare and argue motions in court.
  • Take and defend depositions of witnesses, including medical professionals.
  • Assist with trial preparation and participate in trials as needed.
  • Provide guidance and direction to legal assistants, law clerks, and paralegals.
  • Ensure compliance with legal and ethical standards in all case-related activities.

 

Requirements:

  • 1-3 years of experience in medical malpractice litigation.
  • Interest in civil litigation and willingness to work in a fast-paced legal environment.
  • Excellent writing, oral advocacy, and time-management skills.
  • Prior law firm experience is preferred.
  • Membership in good standing with the California State Bar.

 

Education and Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to and good standing with the California State Bar.
