Job Overview:

A law firm in San Francisco, CA, is seeking a CFIUS and International Trade/Export Controls Associate Attorney with 2-4 years of experience in handling international trade regulatory, compliance, and enforcement matters. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in the Committee on Foreign Investments (CFIUS), U.S. export controls, and International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), along with a general understanding of the Defense Priorities & Allocation System (DPAS). The position requires admission to the California State Bar.

Duties:

  • Provide legal counsel on matters related to international trade regulations, including compliance and enforcement.
  • Advise clients on CFIUS-related transactions and filings.
  • Assist in navigating and complying with U.S. export control laws, including ITAR.
  • Draft and review legal documents, compliance reports, and regulatory filings.
  • Conduct legal research and analyze the implications of trade policies and regulations.
  • Represent clients in dealings with federal agencies and regulatory bodies.
  • Stay updated on changes in trade regulations and guide their impact.
  • Support in the preparation and submission of CFIUS notifications and other regulatory submissions.

Requirements:

  • 2-4 years of experience in international trade regulatory, compliance, and enforcement.
  • Demonstrated expertise in CFIUS, U.S. export controls, and ITAR.
  • General knowledge of the Defense Priorities & Allocation System (DPAS) is preferred.
  • Admission to the California State Bar and actively in good standing.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the California State Bar (required).

Skills:

  • Strong understanding of international trade regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Proficient in legal research and analysis.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
