A law firm in Portland, OR is seeking a White Collar and Government Investigations Associate Attorney with 2-4 years of experience in international trade regulatory compliance and enforcement. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in working with the Committee on Foreign Investments (CFIUS), United States export controls, and International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). A general understanding of the Defense Priorities & Allocation System (DPAS) is preferred. The candidate should demonstrate experience supporting active teams in these areas and must be admitted and actively Barred in the state.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Represent clients in matters involving international trade regulatory compliance, with a focus on CFIUS, ITAR, and U.S. export controls.
  • Provide legal counsel and strategic advice on compliance with export controls and related regulations.
  • Prepare, file, and manage regulatory submissions, ensuring adherence to legal and procedural requirements.
  • Conduct detailed investigations into compliance issues, offering actionable recommendations and solutions.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate legal documents, including compliance policies, procedures, and agreements.
  • Work collaboratively with clients and internal teams to ensure regulatory compliance and address potential issues proactively.
  • Handle inquiries and investigations from government agencies concerning international trade matters.
  • Stay informed about changes in international trade regulations and their implications for clients.
  • Participate in team meetings, contributing to the development and implementation of strategies for managing regulatory compliance and enforcement.

Requirements:

  • 2-4 years of experience in international trade regulatory compliance, enforcement, and related legal matters.
  • Proven expertise with CFIUS, ITAR, and U.S. export controls.
  • General knowledge of the Defense Priorities & Allocation System (DPAS) is preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting active teams in complex regulatory environments.
  • Must be admitted and actively Barred in the state of Oregon.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the Oregon State Bar and active Bar status.
