Job Overview: A prominent law firm located in McDonough, GA, is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Criminal Defense Associate Attorney to join its growing team. This role involves handling a variety of criminal defense cases from initial consultation to trial, with the opportunity to work closely with clients and provide critical support at one of the most challenging times in their lives.

Duties:

• Represent clients in criminal defense cases, attending court appearances and hearings as required.
• Conduct legal research, depositions, and draft motions.
• Provide advice and guidance to clients and their families, building rapport and trust.
• Negotiate pleas and settlements.
• Handle case management from intake to trial, ensuring deadlines and client expectations are met.
• Participate in trial preparation, including witness preparation and strategy development.
• Assist with business development and client intake, including availability for emergent client needs during evenings and weekends.
• Collaborate with a team of paralegals and staff to ensure efficient case handling.

Requirements:

• Admission to the Georgia Bar.
• 0-2 years of experience in criminal defense, though new graduates with a strong interest in the field are encouraged to apply.
• Strong commitment to client advocacy and defense.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with a legal team.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Outstanding research and analytical skills.
• Ability to handle difficult client situations with professionalism and empathy.
• Willingness to work outside of traditional hours, including evenings and weekends as needed.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
• Admission to the Georgia Bar.

Certifications:

• Georgia Bar license (Required).
