Job Overview
A prominent law firm is looking to add a talented Civil Litigation Associate Attorney to its dynamic team in Sacramento, CA. The firm specializes in defending personal injury claims across a variety of areas, including medical malpractice, ski accidents, and car accidents, in both California and Nevada. Additionally, the firm defends healthcare providers in professional licensing board matters. This role offers a unique opportunity to handle complex litigation matters from start to finish, including discovery, motion practice, court appearances, depositions, and trial preparation.

Duties

• Manage and oversee all aspects of civil litigation, from initial filings to trial preparation
• Draft pleadings, discovery requests and responses, motions, settlement demands, and mediation briefs
• Communicate directly with clients to strategize and update on case progress
• Conduct legal and factual investigations to build compelling cases
• Represent clients in court, at depositions, and in various hearings
• Summarize discovery documents and medical records
• Independently identify legal issues and formulate litigation strategies
• Track billable time and meet required timekeeping targets

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of civil litigation experience, with a preference for candidates who have handled medical malpractice or personal injury cases
• Experience in California state and federal courts
• Strong working knowledge of civil procedure and evidence
• Admitted to practice in the state of California and good standing
• Proven ability to manage cases independently while collaborating within a team environment
• Excellent communication, writing, and interpersonal skills
• Strong legal research and analytical abilities
• Detail-oriented with the ability to handle complex legal issues
• Demonstrated empathy and sensitivity when dealing with clients

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year institution

Certifications

• Admission to the California State Bar

Skills

• Strong litigation experience, with the ability to handle complex cases
