Duties:

  • Provide patent counseling and prosecution services for biotech and pharmaceutical clients.
  • Draft and file patent applications, handling all stages of prosecution from filing to final approval.
  • Collaborate with clients to develop and implement patent strategies that protect their intellectual property.
  • Conduct patent due diligence and provide strategic advice on patentability, infringement, and freedom to operate.
  • Manage a diverse range of patent matters across multiple disciplines within the biotechnology and pharmaceutical fields.
  • Offer guidance on patent portfolio management and contribute to overall IP strategy.
  • Work closely with a collaborative team while maintaining client relationships.
  • Proactively manage and prioritize a docket of patent matters to meet deadlines and maintain high standards of quality.

Requirements:

  • 3-6 years of experience in patent counseling and prosecution, ideally with a focus on biotech or pharma clients.
  • Advanced degree in a biological science or chemistry discipline, with a Ph.D. preferred.
  • Experience with patent strategy, drafting, and due diligence matters.
  • Background in a "Big Law" environment, but seeking to apply this knowledge in a smaller, more flexible firm.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently with precision.
  • Ability to manage a workload, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Education:

  • Advanced degree in a biological or chemistry-related field (Ph.D. preferred).
