A law firm seeks a skilled Patent Associate to join its Boston office or work remotely in support of the Boston team. The role focuses on patent prosecution services related to software and electronics intellectual property. Familiarity with these areas is essential, and any experience in the health and medicine fields will be considered a plus.

Duties:

  • Handle the preparation and prosecution of U.S. and foreign patent applications.
  • Work on intellectual property matters related to software, electronics, and additional industry sectors.
  • Offer strategic counsel to clients regarding patent prosecution, protection, and portfolio management.
  • Conduct patentability assessments, provide support for patent filings, and respond to office actions.
  • Collaborate with clients to develop efficient patent strategies.
  • Stay updated on changes to patent laws and implement compliance measures.

Requirements:

  • 2 - 5 years of experience in patent prosecution, especially in the software and electronics fields.
  • Familiarity with U.S. and international patent law and prosecution processes.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects with deadlines.
  • Creative and strategic thinking in patent prosecution.

Education:

  • A bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field.

Certifications:

  • Must be registered with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).

Skills:

  • Strong analytical and technical skills.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to multitask effectively.
  • Attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in all patent-related matters.
  • Client-focused approach, delivering high-quality service.
  • Experience in patent litigation or industry work is an added advantage.
