Insurance Coverage Litigation Attorney

A law firm in Los Angeles, CA, is seeking an Insurance Coverage Litigation Attorney to join their Product, Tort, and Insurance Litigation Practice Group. The successful candidate will bring 5-7 years of litigation experience focused on defending insurance coverage and/or extracontractual matters. This role requires expertise in writing coverage opinions, investigating insurance claims, handling written discovery, and representing clients in mediations and court appearances. The ideal candidate will have a strong academic background and demonstrated excellence in research and writing.

Duties

• Prepare and deliver comprehensive coverage opinions on complex insurance issues.
• Conduct thorough investigations into insurance claims to determine coverage and liability.
• Manage and execute written discovery, including drafting and responding to discovery requests.
• Take and defend depositions of witnesses and experts.
• Draft pleadings, substantive motions, and other critical legal documents.
• Represent clients in mediations, court appearances, and assist in trials.
• Develop and implement effective litigation strategies in coordination with clients and senior attorneys.
• Analyze policy language and coverage issues to provide informed legal advice.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of developments in insurance law and litigation practices.

Requirements

• 5-7 years of litigation experience in defending insurance coverage and/or extracontractual matters.
• Demonstrated experience in writing coverage opinions and managing complex insurance claims.
• Proficient in handling written discovery, depositions, and drafting legal documents.
• Proven ability to represent clients effectively in mediations, court appearances, and trials.
• Strong academic record with excellent research and writing skills.

Education

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

• Active Bar License in good standing in California.
