A prominent law firm specializing in nonprofit, tax, and estate planning is seeking a Senior Litigation Associate to join their team in Los Angeles. This role primarily involves representing charitable organizations in contested probate and trust matters, providing significant case responsibility from inception to bench trials. While experience in trust and estate litigation is a plus, candidates with general civil litigation experience looking for hands-on involvement in complex cases are encouraged to apply. The position offers a hybrid work environment and may also include some transactional work in trust and estate matters.

Duties:

  • Represent charitable organizations in contested probate and trust litigation.
  • Manage all aspects of litigation from case initiation through resolution, including bench trials.
  • Draft and file pleadings, motions, and legal briefs.
  • Conduct discovery, take depositions, and participate in court appearances.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys on case strategy and client representation.
  • Provide legal counsel to clients on trust, probate, and estate matters.
  • Engage in transactional work for charities and other clients involved in trust and estate matters, if needed.
  • Maintain client relationships and ensure clear communication on case progress.

Requirements:

  • Significant experience in civil litigation, with a preference for trust and estate litigation.
  • Strong legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple complex cases and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle cases from start to finish, including trial experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for client interactions.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active Bar membership in the State of California (required).

Skills:

  • Strong litigation skills, including drafting motions, conducting discovery, and trial preparation.
  • Ability to handle high-responsibility cases and provide strategic legal counsel.
  • Attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
  • Effective communication and client relationship management abilities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a hybrid work environment.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Salary: $250,000 - $300,000 per year, based on experience.
